Just as a mirror captures the image of a person or object, and reflects that image back to the viewer, the retina serves as the image transfer point between the lens of your eye and your brain. Your retina sits in the back of your eye and translates light images into electrical impulses your brain interprets as 'sight.' Damage to the retina, through disease, trauma, or age-related degeneration can result in a partial or complete loss of vision.
Dr. Charles Barr leads a team of specialists in treating retinal disorders, including retinal detachment, infections of the posterior eye, retinal degeneration, macular degeneration ocular trauma and retinopathy of prematurity, either through surgery or medicinal therapy.
