INTERVIEW
The resident selection process consists of essentially three "levels of review":
1.Deciding which applications to include in our formal application review process.
To be selected, we demand that the application be complete and that the applicant meet the criteria mentioned above. If, for example, the applicant has not furnished his/her USMLE scores or his/her medical school records by the deadline set forth by our program, we will not review his or her application. Furthermore, valid ECFMG certificates from FMG candidates must be received by the deadline set forth by our program, or we will not review his or her application. We also will not review applications with an H1 Visa, since it is not accepted by the University of Louisville.
2.Deciding which applicants to invite for an interview.
This decision is made by a designated committee of faculty members utilizing criteria 1-11 above.
NOTE: All applicants who are invited for an interview are expected to complete a University of Louisville application and return it, along with a photograph, to Debby McCurdy prior to his/her interview.
3.Final ranking of applicants.
A designated committee of faculty will formally rank selected applicants, using criteria 1-12 above. Additionally, the candidate’s personal statement, ability to communicate during the interview, perceived "team spirit," and general background are considered during the ranking process.
