Visual development is a dynamic process that does not end at birth, but continues throughout childhood. Disruption of this complex process, either through disease, genetic abnormality, or trauma can have a lasting impact. The medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases in the child is particularly rewarding to Dr. Paul J. Rychwalski as the benefits of successful intervention can last a lifetime. As a fellowship-trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist, Dr. Rychwalski specializes in the optical, medical and surgical treatment of eye disorders that affect children. Dr. Rychwalski also specializes in the surgical correction of eye misalignment (strabismus) in adults. His research interests are retinopathy of prematurity, childhood cataract surgical technique, amblyopia and the shaken baby syndrome.
